Sam Perez, 16, is an eleventh grader from Anchorage, Alaska. Sam started sprint racing at 4 years old and has competed every year since. He's most proud of his Sportsmanship Award from 2021. Last year he started dabbling in distance racing. In addition to the Jr. Iditarod, Sam is signed up for the Solo Sweepstake and Willow Jr. 100. When not on the runners, he can be found mountain biking, snowboarding, and skiing. After high school, he plans to pursue a degree in biology.
