Arien Sanderson, 14, is a ninth grader from Palmer, Alaska. Her kennel is Midnight Howlers Racing Kennel and is located in Willow, Alaska. She started running dogs with Iditarod musher, Alan Eischens, when she was 3-years-old and quickly fell in love with the sport. In 2016, Arien got her first sled dog and has since expanded her kennel to 28 dogs. Although a rookie to Jr. Iditarod, she has a wide array of racing experiences to include Willow Jr. 100 (6th - 2022, 3rd - 2023), Yukon Quest 80 (6th - 2023), Hal Bartko 10 (1st - 2022, 1st - 2023) and Jr. World Championship (1st - 2021). In her freetime, Arien will almost always be found doing something outside. She enjoys running, skiing, hunting, fishing, hiking, four-wheeling, skijoring, and biking. Though just starting high school, she aspires to be a veterinarian and professional dog musher.
